I’ve been following Thomas Mangan on social media for a while now and I’m always amazed at how much he’s able to get into the field and shoot photos. If you know about being a professional photographer, you know how difficult it is to actually take photos on a consistent basis. Thomas Mangan shoots often thanks to his quick access route to Rocky Mountain National Park. I’ve been to the Rockies before and know a little bit about the landscape, however, Thomas Mangan knows the Rockies like the back of his hand. In this episode of The Landscape Photography Show, I was very curious to hear about how Thomas goes into the art of photography and what led him to landscape photography in Colorado.
In his journey through photography, Thomas Mangan started with film cameras before switching to digital. I was curious to hear which Thomas liked better and if he felt a stronger connection to his photographs when he shot film due to the slower workflow.
With all of the questions asked, I was specifically interested to hear how Thomas is able to photograph the same place constantly without getting tired of it. A lot of photographers get location fatigue by thinking that other locations will give them more interesting shots. Thomas shoots the Rockies and maybe a couple of other places throughout the year. We’ll discuss how he stays productive by knowing locations intimately.
