Matt Payne’s voice might be slightly familiar to you, especially if you’re an avid listener of photography podcasts. That’s because Matt is the host of the wildly popular landscape photography podcast called F-Stop Collaborate and Listen. The interview list on his podcast is lengthy and filled with impressive guests. It’s a must-listen.

I wanted to talk with Matt about several topics that pertain to his life and the art form we both love. Number one was the fact that Matt doesn’t make landscape photography his full-time job, and he likes it that way. I was curious to get his thoughts on what the benefits are for those who shoot on the side, or those who just like photography as a hobby.

Something else that I was excited to talk with Matt Payne about was his thoughts on composites in landscape photography. Composites are always a heated debate on social media, but Matt has some interesting thoughts on the realistic way to share photos that may be a combination of several frames combined in post-processing.

I have to tell you, I’ve heard a lot of comparisons to composites and life, but I’ve never heard Matt’s comparison of wildly composited images to ancient Roman genitalia…

There are several other topics covered in this episode like print sales, how Matt got started in photography, and friendly banter between two photographers.
